Born in San Francisco to a musician father and an artist mother, Nicole Vann's upbringing helped cultivate a passion for creative expression, particularly in art, music, and dance. Nicole began her training at the San Francisco Ballet School, earning a prestigious scholarship to the Tisch School of Arts in New York City until physical injuries ended her dance career and returned her focus to the visual arts.

In addition to her artistic training at the Tisch School of Arts, Nicole studied visual arts at both the San Francisco School of the Arts and Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles, and studied fashion illustration in Paris through the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM), In 1998 Nicole settled back into California to establish her studio practice in Venice Beach. She specializes in drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpture, working in bronze, glass, acrylic, oil and mixed media. Nicole’s work reflects her inherent love of the human form. She draws inspiration from her personal life, and her work is a manifestation of her physical and emotional experience and the breadth of expression of female sexuality.
